Long Live...

Post by Admin »

At the beginning of the year 2012, after multiple discussions, several people decided to merge their personal interests into a group type environment.

The difference in this particular group was it was exclusive to certain specialists in their fields. There were researchers in astronomy, bio-mechanics, physics, biology, geothermal engineering, atmospherics, meteorologists and so on. There were also the practical types, the various engineers and the designers (and builders), and even a smattering of science fiction authors. It was not open to the public.

From the very beginning it was decided that each person joining would be vetted by a disinterested third party, with each member remaining anonymous, and to help with this endeavor each member's Internet connection would be through a commercial VPN. This would hopefully prevent physical identification of each member. Also, the group setting, a web site, would remain private and hidden so as to help prevent any professional and personal repercussions while these personal interests were explored.

To list a few of these interests: ufology in general, biology of extraterrestrial life, physics and mechanics of advanced propulsion, stellar navigation, ESP (psychic phenomena), hauntings, life after death, and several others.

However, the only way this would work was if each member operated from their own field of expertise, while engaging with specialists in other fields to discuss what common factors might be cross overs into another field. It took honesty and integrity, but it worked and it worked well. Each person, put aside their ego, opened up, admitted their ignorance in something, and gave each other intelligent and knowledgeable support in various other areas; as in, someone else's expertise. The group operated this way very successfully for over five years. We cant disclose what was examined, discussed and theorized, because much of it remains the intellectual property of each respective individual, or group of individuals (some advanced theories required a collective intelligence to understand and develop).

Neither active military or former military were involved, nor were any politicians. The truth is, we would have loved to open it to everyone, but we were limited in whom we could include, as cost and logistics became a important factor, and having too many members would make discourse a nightmare for everyone. Plus, we didn't require stories, as it just wasn't about the event, but how the event came about, the frequency, etc. We took what we needed, as we needed it, from the web or from other non-Internet sources.

However, as with all things, the group's time together came to an end. There was no one reason the group ended, only that each individual had other concerns that outweighed the group's importance.

Despite the inherent secrecy over the last 5 years, it was decided, before the group was dissolved and the web site dismantled, that perhaps, another version of the group could be resurrected and the public invited (those few members wanting to continue, from the previous group, might be persuaded to join). The only thing, members would have to be active in discussions, not all the ongoing discussions, as individual interests vary, but members would have to participate at some point. Some material from the previous group may be available for posting, as a eye catcher, if a new group ever emerges.

The same privacy constraints would not be evoked, since, again, it costs money and who is going to pay it? Previously, the group members paid their own way, and gave yearly donations to maintain the website, whose name was borrowed from another long defunct web based social group. Of course, if the members are willing to fork out some money, then yes, of course, naturally, we'll follow the same rigorous procedures to insure individual privacy. Yeah, right!

To get back to the main purpose...

It was decided to post this to the public so to gain an idea from you, the guests who read these posts, whether we should open up another incarnation or not. Of course, you'll have to register with this forum to post a Yay or Nay, but it might be worth it.

Anyway, that's all.

The (censored) is dead! Long live the (censored)!
